Profile

Mathapelo Mofokeng is a self-taught literary writer, storytelling-for-advocacy facilitator, and abortion doula based in South Africa. Her work explores the intersections of women’s rights, racial justice, and the future of feminism in Africa.

Mathapelo is a recipient of the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize and has been awarded fellowships from MacDowell, Camargo, and the Miles Morland Foundation. She also serves as the Board Chairperson of the Life Righting Collective, a non-profit organisation that runs workshops for people seeking personal meaning, self-understanding, and healing through writing about their life experiences.
