Profile

Kpingni Maureen is a visual artist, writer, and curator based in Côte d'Ivoire. She draws on her Ivorian heritage and the legacy of Black feminist thinkers and artists from Africa and its vast diaspora to create alternative narratives, question culture, and imagine futures. Through figurative representations of the Black female body —often her own— Kpingni seeks to highlight the multiple layers of Black femininity across geographies and realities. She sees eroticism and sensuality as spiritual power and healing tools. As such, she explores the representation of the body as a powerful site of resistance, pleasure, and transformation.

Kpingni is currently writing her first romance-erotica novel set in Abidjan and plans to launch a multilingual magazine of arts & culture in 2025.
