Profile

Jagdish is a visual artist based in Nepal. His work engages with themes of home, belonging, and migration, and his practice spans drawing, painting, video, performance, and mixed media. His ongoing project “Drifting Toward the Red Star” weaves together family portraits, archival photographs, socialist literature, and political ephemera to trace his father's journey from a rural village to the city as a thangka painter. The work reflects on his father's connection to communist ideals, Indigenous movements, and broader socio-political struggles among marginalised communities in Nepal.

Jagdish is a member of the Aakrit Collective, an artist collective based in Bhaktapur, and a recipient of the Himalayan Light Art Award (2019). He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Kathmandu University.
