Profile

Ixmucané is a multidisciplinary artist of Kaqchikel-K’iche’ Mayan origin based in Guatemala. Her work combines manual and technological techniques to explore vibrant colours, textures, sounds, and images. Through film, animation, and art, she creates dialogues around the defence of territory, the environment, equity, and ancestral memory.

Ixmucané is the co-founder of LEMOW, a collective of women artists and filmmakers in Guatemala. Her work has been recognised in Guatemala, Panama, Chile, and Argentina.
