Profile

Héctor Almeida is a filmmaker, editor, and actor based in Cuba. Héctor has contributed significantly to both national and international television channels, showcasing his talent and skill in filmmaking. He gained recognition for editing acclaimed short films such as "The Same Shoes" and "Finally an Aspiration" by director Mel Chikoc.

In 2023, Héctor made his directorial debut with "Para Esteban", which received the prestigious Funespaña Award at the International Film Festival "Visualízame en tu memoria" and has been selected for 30 international film festivals to date. In it, he explores family memory in an intimate way. He has obtained several awards and recognitions, among which stand out his official selection in the Lebu International Film Festival, qualifier for the Oscar and Goya Awards, and has been selected in more than 50 Film Festivals.

Héctor was also part of the International Workshop of High Studies “Screenwriters of the XXI Century”, taught by the Spanish writer and philosopher Daniel Tubau at the EICTV. He has worked on projects for Lester Hamlet, Aymeé Nuviola, Daniel Santoyo, Mel Chikoc, and AVA. He is currently working on his first feature film, a project that was part of the “Incubadora de la Cátedra Documental para desarrollo de proyectos”, coordinated by Cuban filmmaker Luis Alejandro Yero.
