The Committee for Relevant Art (CORA) is a cultural organization based in Nigeria. Established on June 2, 1991, by Toyin Akinosho, Yomi Layinka, Josey Ogbuanoh, Tunde Lanipekun, and Chika Okeke-Agulu, CORA operates as a not-for-profit platform for artists, art critics, aficionados, and publishers. The members of CORA identify themselves as "cultural landscapists," dedicating their efforts to the social involvement and debate of cultural issues across the country and beyond. With a focus that spans literature, theatre, cabaret, films, television programs, and music, CORA has significantly impacted Nigerian culture and the broader African continent.CORA is renowned for its organization of events in Lagos, such as the Art Stampede, the Lagos Book & Art Festival (LABAF), the open air Cinema Carnival, and the Lagos Comics Carnival, amongst others. The organization also publishes the quarterly magazine Lagos The City Arts Guide, in addition to books, and has founded several libraries as part of its mission to promote cultural expression.
