Profile

Christopher Gaona is a multidisciplinary artist based in Peru. Christopher’s practice spans film, photography, and theatre, among other mediums. His work is shaped by his own migration, going through different socio-cultural backgrounds in his country, as well as the passage between different disciplines that changed as his gaze evolved in search of an attempt to reach the intimate-real of an other. Christopher focuses on dignifying the margin: to look at the peripheral as an equal, to carnify the other in its real dimension, with its smells and its strands. His work has been presented in various festivals, such as Temporada Alta (2022), Escenas Cortas - ENSAD (2021), II Bienal de Cine de Lima Cinevalor (2021), and in photographic exhibitions about identity, such as "Del mar al arenal: infinite landscape of identity" (2022) and "SANDER: From the impact of the Image to our time" (2023).
