Calix is a musician and producer based in the Philippines. Calix creates contemporary music that tackles pressing and relatable Philippine social issues, such as class inequality, impunity, and state violence. His chosen genre is hip hop and rap, the most popular and accessible genre of music among Filipino youth.
Calix has released several critically acclaimed music albums, including “Kolateral”, a 12-track concept album tackling data and narratives on the state-sanctioned War on Drugs in the Philippines. The album was done in collaboration with artists and data researchers to raise awareness about the violence happening against marginalized Philippine communities.
