Profile
Bernard Ntahondi is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tanzania. He specializes in film curation and heritage management, using history, film, and storytelling as tools to interrogate systems of power, reclaim local narratives, and inspire Tanzanians to view cultural memory as a catalyst for building a more just and inclusive future.
He is currently a curator at the Dar es Salaam Center for Architectural Heritage, where he integrates his knowledge of architecture and history into his film-related work. His passion for film is also evident in his role as Administrator of Short Century African Films, which focuses on films from 1945 to 1994 that depict the struggles for independence and the socio-economic challenges of post-colonial Africa. In addition, Bernard works as a historian and curator at Ajabu Ajabu Audio Visual House, an initiative dedicated to preserving stories and storytelling practices through film. His work there involves addressing bias, promoting diversity, and improving access to a wide range of narratives in cinema, video, and sound art.
