Anocha Suwichakornpong is a filmmaker and screenwriter based in Thailand. Her films often explore themes of memory, personal and national history, and the socio-political landscape of Thailand. Anocha's work is known for its innovative narrative structures and deep philosophical underpinnings, which challenge conventional storytelling.Her most acclaimed film, "By the Time It Gets Dark" (2016), intertwines various narratives related to the 1976 Thammasat University massacre, reflecting on the impossibility of truly capturing history. This film, along with her debut feature "Mundane History" (2009), which won numerous international awards, showcases her talent for merging the personal with the political in visually compelling ways. Her works have been exhibited at prestigious venues such as the Locarno Film Festival and the Rotterdam International Film Festival. Anocha co-founded the production company Electric Eel Films, which has become a significant platform for independent Thai cinema.
