Profile

Amr El Maghraby is an artist based in Egypt. His practice revisits the intersections between material, exchange, and narrative, exploring how currencies, both natural and digital, transform into vessels of social memory and collective imagination. It also reflects on the evolving role of nature and landscape, and on how they are dramatically reimagined and perceived as urbanism transitions into the digital realm.

This perspective was shaped by his relocation two years ago to Dahab, a Bedouin mountain town in Egypt known for its cosmopolitan remote worker community. Originally from Alexandria, he studied art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, where he obtained both a BA and an MA in Painting, and he joined the MASS Alexandria independent art program in 2014.
