Vikrant Bhise is a visual artist based in India. Vikrant is an alumnus of L. S. Raheja School of Art and The Sir J. J. School of Art, His practice is driven by the revolutionary spirit of Ambedkarite consciousness, addressing the systemic struggles against caste-based oppression, while also creating space for himself and his community in a world where they have long been marginalized. Through his art, Vikrant challenges power structures, focusing on themes of land, liberty, and labour. His large-scale paintings, inspired by the murals of post-revolutionary Mexico, and smaller ink-on-paper works, influenced by the emotive intensity of Somnath Hore’s art, convey urgency and resistance. Vikrant’s iconography is radical and deliberate, advocating for social justice, reform, and remembrance.
Vikrant’s selected solo exhibitions include "Human", curated by Katharina Domscheit-D'Souza, at Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai, 2019), and "Sense and Sensibilities: A Reflective Realisation", curated by Dr. Y.S. Alone, at Anant Art Gallery (Noida, 2024). "We Will See", a two-person exhibition at Experimenter–Colaba, Mumbai (2024). He was awarded the National Award by Lalit Kala Akademi in 2018 for his series "Impressions".
