Profile
Olando Whyte is a multidisciplinary artist based in Jamaica. Working across performance, dance, sculpture, and drawing, he blends Dancehall culture with traditional dance, healing ceremonies, and art objects. His performances draw on Afro-Jamaican spiritual traditions and seek to reconnect with and reclaim aspects of his cultural heritage, challenging ongoing colonial legacies.
Whyte defines his practice as ritual Yaadfuturism, reshaping possible futures through experimental remixes of history, ritual, and rhythm rooted in Jamaican dance and music culture. He has led the Dancehall crew Real Konnection and toured Jamaica performing Dancehall and traditional Jamaican dance. He has exhibited his work in Jamaica, Sweden, and Iceland, and lives and works in Kingston.
