Profile
Mohamed Issaoui is an artistic researcher, dancer and performer from Tunisia. In 2017 he produced his first creation, ‘The Deserter’ - a stage production retracing his life as a homosexual in Tunis. He completed an artistic residency with Saida El Khadhra - an icon of Tunisian dance who marked the country’s modern history. This inspired and provided substance for his second performance ‘STEPS’, which he later developed within the framework of Uncontrolled Gestures, a project initiated by the Goethe Institut. His work speaks through the use of the body in order to create conversations about queerness, gender and sexual expression.
