Karel Kouelany is a performer and choreographer based in the Republic of the Congo. He draws inspiration from his daily struggles and the abuses he sees in society. Krump is his main style, while his choreographic work merges different aesthetics and genres. Prone to leading and unifying, he invests in organizing events and performances that gather people around art.
In 2023, Karel created PIIRAMIID Company to mentor young Congolese artists. In 2025, the company’s first piece, "Les Vides Denses", which won multiple awards, toured Europe between Belgium and France. The same year he joined the new promotion of choreographers at La Fabrique de la Danse in France, with a residency for a solo piece, "BOLOKO", supported by the Goethe Institute in South Africa.
