Profile
Josly Medina Guerrero is a cultural practitioner and researcher based in Venezuela, with a background in anthropology. Her work focuses on identity and cultural heritage, and is committed to centering marginalised voices, reclaiming narratives, and fostering collective learning rooted in her lived experience as an Afro-descendant woman. She holds that critically examining systems of power is a form of resistance that can lead to social transformation.
For the last four years, Josly has worked alongside community leaders, activists, artisans, and practitioners to raise awareness of the challenges of living through the worst economic crisis of Venezuela’s modern history. By amplifying the knowledge of historically excluded communities, she creates spaces that celebrate the richness of cultures, histories, and epistemologies across the country.
