Profile

José Luis Aparicio is an actor and film director from Cuba. His film “El Secadero (Dryland)” (2019) was awarded Best Fiction at Panama’s Bannabáfest, Best Production and Audience Award at Muestra Joven in Cuba, and Honorable Mention at Cinema Ciudad de México. In 2020, his documentary “Sueños al pairo (Dreams Adrift)” was premiered at Argentine’s BAFICI and won Best Cultural Representation Award at Festival Internacional de Cine Austral. His film “Tundra” (2021) has been selected for Sundance, Miami, Santa Fe, Pendance, San Diego Latino, Houston Latino, BAFICI, and Curta Cinema film festivals. José founded the Cuban Cinema in Quarantine initiative and performs as INSTAR Film Festival’s head curator.
