Ixchel M. Casado is a film director and sound practitioner based in Cuba. She directed “Caballo” and “El derecho a la pereza,” and won the Young Artists Fund for “El Parqueo,” a film project that revives the tradition of open-air cinema in Cuba and was selected for the Collaborative Film Encounter (ECC).
A graduate of the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in 2015, Casado studied musicology at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana and graduated in Sound from the same institute in 2023. She won the Europe Caribbean CoCreation Hub in 2023 and was a resident at La Burbuja Lab, a programme for women filmmakers, and at DIP, a documentary film space directed by Manuel Abramovich, in 2025. She also received the third Franz Kafka Prize for Vertical Cinema (2025).
