Heri Dono is a visual artist based in Indonesia. He is known for his interdisciplinary practice that blends traditional Indonesian art forms with contemporary themes. His artworks merge elements of visual arts, mantra, sound, storytelling, social criticism, humor, and Javanese mythology, creating a space for social interaction among the audience. Dono's practice aims to revitalize art deeply rooted in Indonesian traditions.Heri Dono is the only contemporary Indonesian artist to have been invited to the curated exhibition at the Venice Biennale. His awards include the UNESCO Prize and the Anugerah Adhikarya Rupa (Visual Arts Award) from the Indonesian government (2014). He has participated in over 300 exhibitions and 35 international biennales, including the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (2018), Bangkok Art Biennale (2018), the 56th Venice Biennale (2015).
