Gladys Kalichini is a visual artist and researcher born and based in Zambia. She is currently a PhD candidate at Rhodes University in South Africa and a member of the Arts of Africa and Global Souths research programme. She exhibited her work at Künstlerhaus Bethanien international studio programme in Berlin, Germany in the year 2019-2020. Her work centres around notions of erasure, memory, representations and visibilities of women in colonial resistance histories. She creates performative installations with video, fabric, colour, sound, and movement that represent women’s stories in historic events of national and nostalgic significance.
