Master Thomas Cruz is a renowned master of carimbó. A composer, percussionist, and craftsman, he represents Os Africanos de Icoaraci, a cultural group founded in 1968 by his parents, Mestre Zito Nunes and Mestra Georgina, a centenarian dancer, along with Seu Barbosa. Known for carrying his instruments and sound equipment on his bicycle, Master Thomas is committed to preserving and spreading carimbó as both a way of life and an ancestral tradition, keeping this vibrant cultural legacy alive for future generations.
