Profile

Joyce Cursino, a Black woman from Belém do Pará, is a dynamic figure in Brazilian media and the arts. Raised in the Jurunas neighborhood, she has excelled as a filmmaker, journalist, communicator, actress, producer, and social entrepreneur. As the co-founder of Negritar Filmes e Produções, an audiovisual production company made up of Black creatives, Joyce is dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices.

She is also the visionary behind "Telas em Movimento", a project that launched the first film festival in the peripheries of the Amazon, making cinema accessible to underserved communities.

Joyce’s journey in communication began at 15 as a child reporter, and by 2022, she celebrated a decade as a journalist, earning numerous accolades, including the title of “Standard Reporter” by the Belém City Council. Recognized as one of the “30 Voices for Change” in communications, she now travels across Brazil, mentoring, lecturing, and empowering Amazonian narratives through her activism and entrepreneurial work in the audiovisual sector.
