Profile
Ofem Ubi is a poet and artist delving into the intersection of poetry and visual art, based in Nigeria. Ofem’s practice interweaves poetry and visual art, exploring memory and its manifestations beyond the boundaries of the written word.
Ofem's significant projects include "the last time I called" (2023), which explores grief and loss as expressions of remembrance and nostalgia, culminating in a pamphlet and an exhibition at the Guest Artist Space Foundation. Equally, "back on home soil" (2023), the sequel to "the last time I called", expanded his inquiry into remembrance and led to an exhibition and film screening at the Fringe of Colour Film Festival in Edinburgh. Ofem is also an alumnus of the G.A.S. Foundation. His "Family Tree" is one of ten aural creative productions in Volume 1 of Artangel’s "Earth Rising", a concept album in which artists, writers, poets, and musicians hold a mirror to humanity.
