Tomiris Orozoeva is a documentary filmmaker from Kyrgyzstan. She graduated from the DocNomads Erasmus Program in 2018 with diplomas from Portugal, Hungary, and Brussels. Upon her return home, Tomiris taught at the department of Television, Cinema, and Media Arts of the American University of Central Asia in Kyrgyzstan (2018-2021). Through her work, she hopes to develop a local perception of film as an educator and challenge the concept of norm. Tomiris utilizes film as a tool to shape understanding of the world through storytelling, which she perceives as the most powerful way to generate change.
