Profile

Rodrigo Urbina is a visual artist and art researcher based in Venezuela. Rodrigo completed his education at the University of Zulia. His practice relates to the study of socio-cultural phenomena that occur in Latin American societies, where housing improvisation and domestic solutions from found objects plague the everyday landscape. Through his work, he generates relationships with recycling, reuse of materials, and methods of self-construction to problematize positions of power, globalization, and neo-colonization. In 2018, Rodrigo was awarded the First Prize at the XIV National Salon of Young Artists of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Zulia, and, in 2019, he won the CCBOD-AICA Stimulus Award for research in Visual Arts.
