Profile

Nursalim Yadi Anugerah is an Indonesian composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Pontianak who draws his inspiration from cosmology, sonology, and the culture of indigenous people from West Kalimantan (Borneo). Well known for his peculiar approach to instrumentation and composition, Nursalim has collaborated extensively with indigenous musicians to preserve and reinterpret their music through new compositions. He has also served for six years as the music director for the Balaan Tumaan Ensemble, a Pontianak-based creative lab and performing group inspired by traditional Kalimantan music. He has worked for several ensembles, artists and festivals, and his music has also been featured on BBC Radio 3 and The Wire Magazine.
