Profile

Memoria Abiertavis an alliance of human rights organizations based in Argentina. It was established in 1999 to promote memory, reflection, and action concerning human rights violations, resistance, and the search for truth and justice in recent history. Its mission is preservation of the memory of state terrorism in Argentina and its aftermath, aiming to enrich democratic culture.By preserving, cataloguing, and making accessible archival materials related to this period, including a vast Oral Archive, and developing educational tools, Memoria Abierta contributes significantly to societal healing and the promotion of human rights. Its work has extended beyond national borders through the coordination of the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Sites of Memory, facilitating methodological exchanges and supporting the construction of collective memories of human rights violations in the region.
