Profile
Kaelo Molefe is an artist, independent researcher, and medical doctor based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Kaelo's creative practice is informed by a keen interest in historiographies of marginality and the socioeconomic histories of the global south, as well as his experiences in clinical medicine.
Kaelo's work interrogates how the bureaucratization of difference is embedded in historical and contemporary power structures, regimes of representation, and the production of bodies, space, and knowledge. He explores these phenomena through creative research and a variety of visual forms, including mixed media and moving images. His practice—a blend of bio-scientific logic and artistic speculation—aims to introduce new ways of thinking through, with, and about difference and pathology.
