Julio Diaz is a Venezuelan-Colombian graphic artist and visual researcher based in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2014, he joined the National School of Popular Graphics, in which he designed and implemented a training program in Visual Communications, aimed at de-commodifying the graphic designer’s profession. His artistic practice is informed by his experiences with formal art training and grassroots militancy. He engages in transformative action, collaborating with environmental and gender collectives from Caracas in the production of online and offline art interventions and campaigns. He is interested in exploring topics such as Venezuelan indigenous mythology, ancestral memories, and the Caracas underground scene.
