Profile

Farida Youssef is an independent curator and critic based in Egypt. Farida holds a master’s degree in European Philosophy from University College London, and her research deals with spatial theory, aesthetics, and the philosophy that surrounds them. In 2018, she was a fellow at the British Museum where she researched how Egyptian antiquities have been displayed. As a residential fellow at the Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Farida developed a project on stupidity as a tool to observe critical and creative thinking. This stems from, but also inspires, her curatorial approach, i.e. listening to the ideas of artists to help them trace and think critically about their projects. She has curated exhibitions on topics such as migration, art criticism, children's art, and artistic collectives.
