Emma Segura Calderón is a transfeminist visual artist based in Costa Rica. She holds a Summa Cum Laude degree in Art and Visual Communication, specializing in Textiles, from the National University. Emma's artistic roots originate in textile practices, a language extended to various mediums.
With a global presence in Latin America, Spain, China, and the United States, Emma received the National Culture Award in Visual Arts Francisco Amighetti. Currently curating "Mundxs Nuestrxs" at F de Imagen, she supports Costa Rican trans* and non-binary artists. Emma's journey spans performances, seminars, and workshops, exploring the intersection of bodies, genders, and identities with memory, time, and space. Her research emphasizes the vital link between individual and collective experiences, creating a living memory of trans* existence.
