Bruno Stagno is an architect based in Costa Rica. He has led the prestigious firm Bruno Stagno Arquitecto y Asociados (BSAa) since 1978. BSAa's reputation stems from its innovative, original designs as well as being a sustainability pioneer developing responsible, energy-efficient, passive architecture adapted to the tropics since 1980. Some of his buildings like Holcim, Nohe Auto Mercado, Tribu, Libro Libre, and Le Parc are considered architectural icons, winning awards globally. His success lies in the personalized attention he gives each project through years of practice solving functionality to meet client needs and sustainabilty. He is the founder of The Institute of Tropical Architecture (IAT), a non-profit association which is dedicated to the research and promotion of sustainable tropical architecture. Creator of the RESET Standard - Requirements for Sustainable Buildings in the Tropics, the IAT donated this Standard to the country for application as a National Standard.
