Profile
Afraa Ahmed is a Yemeni multidisciplinary artist based in Egypt. Her practice spans installation, sculpture, photography, and video. She explores the ways in which the concept of “home” and the sense of “belonging” associated with it persist long after physical disconnection.
Afraa holds a degree in Multimedia Technology from Asia Pacific University in Malaysia, where this enquiry began. Her work has been exhibited in Malaysia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and at the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C. In recognition of her practice, she was awarded grants from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and the Cultural Resource (Mawred) to further expand her exploration of the evolving meanings of home.
