On 24 November, 14.00- 16.30, at EENWERK, join designer, bookmaker and long-time Prince Claus Fund collaborator Irma Boom for an exploration of bookmaking, storytelling and community.
For three decades, Irma Boom has helped shape the Fund’s visual identity and the way its stories are told and shared. Taking place across her studio and gallery, the afternoon features two conversations moderated by Maya El Khalil alongside a performance by members of storytelling collective Mezrab.

14.40–15.10 | Irma Boom & Maya El Khalil — Books, collaboration and the Prince Claus Fund
The first conversation explores Irma Boom’s longstanding relationship with the Prince Claus Fund and how books and visual materials have shaped the way the Fund’s stories and legacy are shared. The conversation will also look at Boom’s approach to developing design from content, with a focus on the Fund’s 30th anniversary publication.

An opportunity to explore the publications Irma Boom has created for and with the Prince Claus Fund, followed by a storytelling session by Mezrab connecting books, stories and collective memory.
15.30–16.10 | Irma Boom & Maya El Khalil — Bookmaking as a collective practice
The second conversation considers the book as a space where people, ideas, materials, knowledge and histories come together. What does it mean to make a book with people rather than simply about them? Can a book create belonging, hold different perspectives, and enable communities to share knowledge and imagine collectively?
