This fall, our Exchanges programme welcomes Prince Claus Awardees Tareq Khalaf and Sandra Khzam for artist residencies at Framer Framed Noord.

The first artist-in-residence hosted by Framer Framed is Tareq Khalaf, a design educator, filmmaker and cultural activist based in Ramallah, Palestine. His work explores the affinities, sensitivities and senses of belonging rooted in Indigenous practices. Currently, he is investigating how seasonal ways of living and community farming can affirm belonging and create spaces of resistance. During his residency, Tareq will develop a sculptural work connecting collective grieving, sustenance and the annual ritual of the olive harvest.
Public event
In parallel, he is completing post-production on his documentary "Azziza: In a Cherished Land", which follows his great aunt Azziza over five years, exploring seasonal life, rapid urbanisation, the deteriorating political situation in the West Bank and familial fragmentation. The film tells a story of exile from the perspective of those who remain, while exploring the powerful bond between people, land and place.

About Framer Framed Noord
Framer Framed Noord is Framer Framed’s project space in Amsterdam-Noord, where local knowledge, collective practices and artistic research come together. There, local residents are given the opportunity to develop their own projects, and artists collaborate with the neighborhood on work rooted in social themes. The venue accommodates artist residencies, art education, and resident initiatives, and is located in the social and cultural center Z369.
