Exchanges with Buro Stedelijk

From 1 to 7 September, the Prince Claus Fund’s Exchanges programme lands at Buro Stedelijk, bringing together artists for a week of shared discussions, studio visits, a masterclass and public events.

The week centres on "Names in Our Veins", an upcoming exhibition at Buro Stedelijk featuring renowned Indonesian contemporary artist and 2014 Prince Claus Awardee FX Harsono alongside Dutch contemporary artist Vincent Ruijters. The exhibition brings together two artists reflecting on histories of migration, erasure and inherited memory from different positions across generations and diasporas.

As part of Exchanges, the Fund’s programme connecting Prince Claus Awardees with Amsterdam’s vibrant cultural landscape, three Seed Awardees and artists from Buro Stedelijk’s network, Tumelo Mtimkhulu & Nathalie Muchamad, will join the programme in Amsterdam for a series of events centred on exchange and collaboration. Together, these encounters create space for new connections, conversations and lasting relationships across the city’s diverse creative scene.

About Buro Stedelijk

Buro Stedelijk is an independently curated and managed project space inside the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Since 1 March 2026, they have been growing into their second chapter, steered by Curator Jo-Lene Ong and Project Manager Anouk van Amsterdam.

Buro operates as an experimental pulse: at times extending the museum, at times questioning it. Their second chapter opens up new forms of exchange between Amsterdam’s creative communities and the institution, while proposing new ways for museum frameworks to reflect the diversity, complexity, and cultural realities of the city today.
