Join us on Friday, 23 October, at Felix Meritis for "The City, The World, The Artist: Culture as a Lifeline" with Amsterdam Dance Event, bringing together artists, funders and cultural leaders for a conversation on what meaningful support for artists can look like in practice.
Amsterdam sits at a unique intersection: a hub of creative funding infrastructure and a vibrant, diverse city that draws artists and ideas from across the world. This panel brings together a PCF team member, a city official and two Seed Awardees to explore what principled, trust-based support for artists from marginalised communities and conflict-affected contexts looks like, and what is lost when that support disappears.
The conversation will feature Tessa Giller (Prince Claus Fund), Araf Ahmadali (City of Amsterdam), and Seed Awardees Lady Donli (Nigeria) and Raiany Sinara (Brazil). Together, they will reflect on the realities of supporting artists working in challenging contexts, the role of trust and long-term relationships, and how cultural funding can create space for artists and communities to shape their own futures.
