Join us on 22 October, between 20:30-21:30, at The Bookshop at ITA for a special ADE edition of Bookshop Invites, bringing together Nigerian musician Lady Donli, Brazilian producer and DJ Raiany Sinara, and Dutch theatre maker Priscilla Vaudelle for an evening centered around sonic practices, shared histories, and ancestral memories.
Featured PCF participants
Operating from the active artistic landscapes of Abuja, São Paulo, and Amsterdam Zuidoost, these three makers treat sound and storytelling as sites of study for navigating inheritance, collective memory, cultural transformation, sonic intimacies, and pluriversal beats. Their work disrupts rigid boundaries to honour different traditions and lived experiences: Lady Donli channels a fluid movement between highlife, Afrobeat, jazz, and rock, Raiany Sinara weaves electronic production with Afro-Brazilian drum machines, rhythms, and archival sonic samples, and Priscilla Vaudelle activates localized storytelling through rap, spoken word, and song with LostProject—amplifying the perspectives of the Bijlmer and its communities.
This gathering unfolds through a choreography of three movements: a statement, an exploration, and an offering. First, Lady Donli will open the space with an artistic statement, setting the frequency for the evening. We then shift into a deeper conversation moderated by ITA programmer Richard Kofi, looking closely at the urgent ideas, influences, and creative practices that shape their work. To close the evening, Raiany Sinara will present a sonic performance responding to the opening statement, weaving past and present into a living, moving memory.
Together, they will explore how music, memory, and heritage are carried, transformed, and given new meaning across generations and geographies.
This event is part of Exchanges, the Fund’s programme connecting Prince Claus Awardees and Seed Awardees with Amsterdam’s vibrant cultural landscape, this gathering creates a space for open conversation, shared learning and new connections across the city’s cultural ecosystem.
Exchanges is made possible through the generous support from the City of Amsterdam.
