Profile
Luana Vitra is a visual artist, dancer, and performer from Brasil. Raised by a father who works as a carpenter and a mother who is wordsmith, she grew up in the industrial city of Contagem that made her body live through iron and soot. Luana moves as she prays and perceives the body as a trap, and her actions as micropolitics that deal with the spatiality which her work evokes, confronts, and confuses. Dealing with themes of environment, racial justice, and reexamination of history, she searches for survival and healing in the landscapes she inhabits.
