"Where art and activism do meet, is in the field of the spirit. Both are manifestations of the will – a determination, devotion, or love – that gives birth to something in the world," says Sharon Chin — an artist, curator, activist, and Cycle 3 CAREC Fellow based in Malaysia.

In the face of a global climate disaster, it is often artists who see beyond the initial fear and chaos, and who dare to imagine what the future could be. Sharon uses art and activism to fight environmental injustice, making urgent, community-rooted work. Her efforts aim to protect ecosystems while also mobilising her peers, in times when such action is as urgent as ever.
Since 2021, the Fund has awarded nearly €1.000.0000 to support more than 100 artists in over 47 countries, all developing unique and effective approaches to confront the climate crisis.
Through our Seed, Fellows, and Impact Awards, we accelerate engaged community-based art practices that address climate justice and the connection between the climate crisis and social, racial, and environmental issues.
Your support for inspiring changemakers is more urgent now than ever. Learn all the ways you can support their work through the three Prince Claus Awards.
