Darya Andijan is an identity created in 2023, born in the Uyghur region of China (People's Republic of) and now based in the Netherlands. She’s tracing back her female lineage by practising Sufism, but often falls between being a believer and a non-believer. In her artistic research Do you know that I’m with you, inspired by Tazkirah’s continuous storytelling, she uses film, performance, and writing to reconnect a fragmented history and the voice of Uyghur women with Central Asia. Through these practices, she creates spaces where forgotten histories are remembered and reimagined.
Darya creates works that weave myths, poetry, and family history to challenge oppression and colonial erasure. Her practice, rooted in critical fabulation, myth-making, and Sufism, envisions a future where Uyghur cultural memory is reclaimed and woven into new forms of resistance.
