Profile

32° East provides artists with the support, resources, and community they need to advance their craft, critically reflect our world, and imagine a new one. Founded in 2011, 32° East is an independent non-profit organisation and home for the visual arts community in Uganda. To date 32° East has hosted over 100 artists-in-residence, provided emergency relief to artists during the Covid-19 crisis, and held 5 editions of Kampala’s longest-running public art festival, KLA ART, bringing contemporary art to over 10,000 people.

Through their work, 32° East aims to shift how art is seen and made, and to amplify the transformative power of art. Situated in Kabalagala, Kampala 32° East is a refuge for under-resourced emerging artists, connecting them to opportunities for international collaboration, exchange, and community. 32° East has been a part of the Fund's network since 2018, when they became one of our Network Partners, as part of our past programmes.
