Fundraising internship

Part-time On-location

Are you a bachelor or master student ready to take your fundraising skills to the next level? Join the Fund as a Fundraising Intern and become part of our dynamic team! In this role, you will work closely with our Head of Fundraising and two Fundraising Coordinators to gain insight into the world of arts and culture fundraising, gather valuable experience and contribute to our mission of supporting artists, thinkers, and cultural changemakers worldwide.

While this role focuses on research, managing data and supporting the team with events and acquisition, we also offer an opportunity for those seeking work experience to showcase their skills and make a real impact.

Tasks and responsibilities

Research and prospect identification 

  • Conduct in-depth research to identify potential income sources and interesting leads;

  • Assist in prospect research for foundations, corporate, and individual donors by reading and summarising annual reports, sustainability reports, and news coverage;

  • Assist in developing strategies to engage individual donors, major donors, corporate partners and foundations;

  • Contribute to creating compelling proposals and pitches to secure vital funding.

Event Support

  • Contribute to creating compelling proposals and pitches to secure vital funding;

  • Provide valuable organisational assistance in preparation for and during two major fundraising events for key stakeholders, such as contributing to compiling information for and keeping track of guest lists;

  • Assist in coordinating logistical processes for the event programming and during the aftercare process; providing hands-on production support during event itself;

  • Contribute ideas and co-think with Fundraising Coordinator to optimise all aspects of the events, from programming to production.

Administrative assistance and database management 

  • Improve the accuracy of the fundraising team's database by proactively updating contacts and organisational information of the Fund's global network of artists, cultural institutions and other external relations;

  • Take the lead in the data management of relations in PerfectView (CRM), including logging fundraising relations and actions, filing documents, and archiving data;

  • Provide administrative support to the team, including financial administration, communications, arranging gifts and mailings.

Relationship Management

  • Handle inquiries and requests of the general mailbox with efficiency and a donor-centric approach.

Qualities and qualifications we're looking for

  • Being fluent in English is required; Dutch language skills to read text and effectively communicate with our international stakeholders is preferred;

  • Currently enrolled in a higher education level study (HBO/WO or equivalent) for the previous and/or upcoming academic semester;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM systems is preferred;

  • Strong social skills with attention to details, context and relations comes in handy;

  • Solid research and writing skills with ability to distil complex text into concise summaries;

  • Proactive, self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively to deliver on time;

  • Own basic design skills (preferable);

  • Passion for arts and culture.

What we offer

We offer a challenging and rewarding position on an international level, working with a creative, dedicated team within a dynamic organisation that has a wide international network of artists and cultural practitioners. Our office is in Amsterdam and employs around 15 people in total depending on interns, volunteers and freelancers. Our hybrid working environment mixes in-office and remote work to offer flexibility and support to employees. Everyone is requested to work from the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This internship position is available for 4 to 6 months starting as soon as possible (can be decided in consultation). Applicants need to be based in the Netherlands and be in possession of a valid BSN number. The expected commitment is 4 days per week during the summer, with possibility to reduce hours as the academic year begins. Remote working days are possible. The Prince Claus Fund provides a monthly allowance of € 500,-- for 32 hours per week.
